3 days Mount Kenya Climbing (Lenana Peak – 4985 Meters) Sirimon Route. The 3 days Mt. Kenya climbing along sirimon route to Lenana point Starts from Nairobi to old Moses Camp on day 1, then to Shipton’s camp on day 2 and point Lenana down to old Moses camp reaching Nairobi on day 3.
This is achievable by technically fit mountaineers without the need for acclimatization and within a limited hiking timeframe
The Sirimon route is considered one of the best Mount Kenya climbing routes due to its gradual ascent, scenic valleys, and lower rainfall on the northern side of the mountain.
Sirimon gate altitude 2650m, the route is so spectacular and it is located on the the drier side of the mountain which the best treks. On this 3 days Mount Kenya Climbing along the sirimon route, you will hike up through forest into a wide ridge to the summit area. The route starts from the northwest side of the mountain near Nanyuki town.
This is a high-intensity Mount Kenya trek, not a beginner-friendly itinerary.

With our professional & experienced Mount Kenya guide from Volcano Mountain Expeditions, leave Nairobi at 8 am to Nanyuki town for lunch, taking about 4 hours. Proceed to Sirimon Gate, 1 hr, 2650m. From the gate follow the track as it winds uphill through the forest which becomes heath land after about 3 hrs. About 3½ hours from the gate the track veers right to old Moses Camp, 3300m for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, follow the track uphill, forking left at the junction. After one hour from Old Moses Camp, the track crosses Ontulili River. Go right contouring through the Moorland and crossing Liki North and continue uphill to Mackinders Valley from where there are panoramic views up the valley towards the main peaks. Dinner and overnight at Shipton Camp, 4200m.
Leave at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns arriving point Lenana at 6:30am, taking about 3hrs. After the sunrise, descend down to Shipton Camp, 2hrs, for breakfast and further, 4hrs, down to Old Moses Camp for Lunch. It is from here that you will connect by road to Nairobi
