Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1
Nairobi - Naro Moru Gate - Met Station (3,000m)
Pick up from Nairobi and drive to Naro Moru town, then proceed to the Naro Moru park gate for lunch. From the gate, trek up through the magnificent montane forest, bamboo, and giant heather zone before reaching the high altitude moorland and Met Station cabins for dinner and overnight. 10km, 3-4hrs, altitude 3,000m.

Day 2
Met Station - Mackinders Camp (4,200m)
A short walk into Teleki Valley to the end of the forest line, then hike across the marshy vertical bog of the lower moorlands. Picnic lunch at the Picnic Rocks before continuing to Mackinders Camp, gaining 1,300m in altitude. Dinner and overnight at Mackinders Camp (4,200m). 10km, 5-6hrs.

Day 3
Mackinders Camp - Point Lenana (4,985m) - Old Moses Camp (Sirimon Side)
Leave at 0300hrs for a pre-dawn summit attempt, trekking for 3-4 hours across bare rock and scree slopes up to Point Lenana (4,985m), arriving in time to catch the African sunrise. Descend to Shipton's Camp (Sirimon route) for breakfast, then continue down via Mackinder's Valley to Old Moses Camp (3,300m). Dinner and overnight at Old Moses Camp. 9-10hrs.

Old Moses Camp - Sirimon Gate - Nairobi
After breakfast, descend through rainforest to Sirimon Gate. Transfer back to Nairobi via Nanyuki, arriving in the late afternoon. 9km, 2-3hrs.
