Frequently asked questions

Is 14 days enough for all three experiences?

Yes. The itinerary is carefully paced: 6 days trekking the Loita Hills, 3 days on safari in the Maasai Mara, and 5 days climbing Mount Kenya with a built-in acclimatization day. This gives you a rich experience of each without rushing.

Do I need climbing experience for Mount Kenya?

No technical climbing experience is needed. The Sirimon Route to Point Lenana (4,985m) is a trekking route - no ropes or specialized gear required. However, good fitness and the ability to walk 6-7 hours per day at altitude is essential.

What is the best time of year for this trip?

June through October and December through March are the best months. July to October also coincides with the Great Migration in the Maasai Mara, making the safari leg even more spectacular.

How difficult is the Loita Hills trek?

The Loita Hills trek is rated moderate. You walk 5-7 hours per day through varied terrain - river valleys, forest, escarpment, and open plains. The heat in the lower sections can be challenging, which is why we start early each morning.

Can I customize this itinerary?

Yes. We can adjust the Mount Kenya route (Sirimon, Chogoria, or Naro Moru), extend the safari, or add a beach extension to Diani or Zanzibar. Talk to us about your preferences.

What happens if I do not summit Mount Kenya?

Our summit success rate on the Sirimon Route with a 5-day itinerary is over 90%. If altitude or weather prevents you from summiting, your guide will make a safe decision to turn back. Your safety always comes first.
